DDLC Plus provides the only real answers we have in lore. The club President receives enhanced permissions in the simulation that allow them to recognize that there is a reality outside of their own. It’s debatable when the literature club was formed. It depends on whether you consider the side stories to be an alternate reality or a prequel.
