In serious rock crawling, they are great in light buggies with 37-40" tires purposely built with a low COG and an unlimited budget.Sorry Last I recall the competing portal was approximatly 5.5 inches wide (142 mm) which would be about 52 mm wider than the 74 weld portal at 3.5 inches wide.
